For nursing, put Baby in cradle hold. When you're still learning, practice this sitting down. Reach up under the sling to expose breast, roll baby towards you so she can latch on, then pull outer rail over her. I would pull both rails fairly tight and be able to shop with no one knowing what Baby was doing. You can also use the tail as a cover. This takes some practice!
